First-Time Configuration

After installing, complete the following steps to ensure full functionality:

1. Grant Essential Permissions

When prompted, allow the following permissions:

  • Location access: Select "Allow all the time" to enable live tracking and emergency location sharing.
  • SMS access: Needed to send SOS alerts when internet access is unavailable.
  • Contacts access: To easily pick trusted emergency contacts.
  • Notification access: To show critical alerts such as fall detection notifications.
  • Physical Activity Recognition: To detect falls and monitor movement.
  • Camera and Microphone access: For secret audio/video recording during emergencies.
  • Ignore Battery Optimization: Keeps the app active even when the device tries to optimize battery usage.
  • Appear on top (Display over other apps): To allow the SOS App to show urgent alerts, emergency countdowns, or floating buttons even when other apps are open.
  • Admin Permission:
    • Activate the Device Admin Permission when prompted.
    • This allows the SOS App to run essential background operations (such as emergency alerts, automatic recordings, and fall detection) even if the device is locked or the app is closed.
Why Admin Permission is Needed

Admin Permission ensures that critical emergency actions (like sending alerts, recording, siren activation) continue uninterrupted even if your phone is locked, screen is off, or battery saver mode is active.

Tip

If you skip a permission, you can manually enable it later under Settings > App Settings > Permissions.

2. Configure Emergency Contacts and Health Profile

  • Add your trusted emergency contacts from your phonebook.
  • Fill in your health profile:
    • Blood group
    • Allergies
    • Medical conditions

This information helps emergency responders or contacts assist you quickly.

  • Quick Access Tile: Add the SOS shortcut tile to your Quick Settings Panel.
  • Home Screen Widget: Place the SOS widget on your home screen for immediate alert activation.
