Safe Zone

The Safe Zone feature allows you to define geographic boundaries around your current location. When you enter or exit these boundaries, the app can trigger alerts or notifications. Follow these steps to create, view, and manage your Safe Zones.

Access Safe Zone​

  1. Open The SOS App on your Android device.
  2. Navigate to Location & Tracking > Safe Zone.
  3. The map centers on your current GPS location and displays existing Safe Zones (if any).

Create a Safe Zone​

  1. On the Safe Zone screen, tap Safe Zone (the button at the top).

  2. Tap at least three points on the map around your current location to define the boundary. Each tap places a marker:

    • Ensure points form a closed polygon encompassing your desired area.
    • Tap each point carefully to adjust the shape as needed.
  3. After placing at least three markers, tap Save to finalize the Safe Zone.

If you make an error, use Undo to remove the last point or Clear All to reset all markers.

  1. Once saved, the new Safe Zone appears as a shaded polygon on the map.

View and Manage Safe Zones​

  1. To see a list of all saved Safe Zones, tap the List icon (bin) in the top-right corner.

  2. The list displays each Safe Zone with:

    • Zone Name (auto-generated or custom if supported)
    • Date Created
    • Status (Active/Inactive)
  3. To delete a Safe Zone:

    • In the list view, locate the zone you wish to remove.
    • Tap the Delete icon (πŸ—‘οΈ) next to that entry.
    • Confirm deletion in the dialog prompt.
  4. Upon deletion, the Safe Zone is removed from both the map and the list.

Safe Zones are only active when location services (GPS) are enabled. If GPS is off, boundary alerts may not trigger correctly.

FAQs​

Q1: How do I undo or clear selected points while defining a Safe Zone?
  • Tap Undo to remove the last point you placed.
  • Tap Clear All to remove all markers and start over.
Q2: Can I create multiple Safe Zones?

Yes. You can define and save multiple Safe Zones. Each will appear separately on the map and in the list view.

Q3: What happens if I delete a Safe Zone?

Deleting a Safe Zone removes it from both the map and the list. You will no longer receive entry/exit alerts for that zone.

Q4: Why am I not receiving alerts when entering or exiting a zone?
  • Ensure Location Services (GPS) are enabled.
  • Confirm the Safe Zone’s status is Active in the list view.
  • Verify that the zone boundary is correctly defined around your intended area.
